One of the most important things to all of us at Conductor is our culture. That’s why we couldn’t be prouder or more excited that Crain’s has named us one of New York’s top 10 places to work (our 8th year as a Best Place to Work!).
We’ve worked hard to build what we call a people-first culture. We look at our company and workplace as an opportunity to create a community working together toward common goals in an environment rooted in mutual respect, collaboration, and a lot of great t-shirt slogans.
But the real backbone of what makes Conductor a great place to work is its people, and the relationships we form with one another. Every member of the Conductor team knows that working here connotes both opportunity and responsibility: the opportunity to learn from and grow with a passionate, brilliant, egoless group of people, and the responsibility to make sure those people enjoy the same. That commitment extends beyond just the workday: from our employee-led Foundation to give back to the larger community, 100% coverage of health insurance premiums, paid time off for community service, fitness/wellness initiatives, and more.
Of course, that’s only part of our story. Conductor joined the WeWork family earlier this year, and the alignment of our two companies’ cultures and values has given us a special opportunity to do even more for the Conductor community. Now that we’re a WeWork company, we can offer even more benefits while continuing to grow our own company culture in our New York headquarters and our newest offices in San Francisco, London, and Kiev.
As Conductor co-founder and CEO Seth Besmertnik has said, “Conductor is a stop on the way in your life. You might work here for four years, you might work here for forty. But whatever it is, we want to make sure the day you step in here is the day your rate of growth explodes.” That attitude is the very foundation of Conductor’s company culture — in everything from the way an intern can give candid feedback to the CEO, to how the entire company rallied around one of our engineers to support him when he wanted to quit smoking, raising thousands of dollars of their own money as an incentive. That’s the kind of culture that makes a company the best place to work.
Conductor is on a mission to humanize marketing – to turn marketing into a positive force in people’s lives. And we know that it’s only possible to take on this customer-first mentality when we put our people first as an employer. These two big ideas are the foundation of everything we do at Conductor, and we’re thrilled to be recognized for these efforts.
According to Crain’s, Conductor and the other Best Places to Work “are tied together by a common value: They create supportive, collegial and empowering workplaces.” We placed 9th in the Large Company category on Crain’s list because of our people-first policies and programs. But Conductor culture is about a lot more than perks. It’s about an attitude and environment founded on empowering and supporting every employee in their current role, their future journey, and their lives inside and out of the office.
