To support our Data Platform Team, we are looking for a new:
(Senior) Software Data Engineer - Java (m/f/d)
(Hybrid in Berlin or remote in Germany/ Full-time/ Permanent Contract)
Your Tasks:
- Build, optimize and maintain data-pipelines as well as upgrade and redesign legacy systems with state-of-the-art technologies.
- Develop, maintain and test ETL processes to support various analytics and client facing use-cases.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with application developers, cloud infrastructure experts and other stakeholders to gather requirements, design and implement data solutions that meet business needs and execute on the enterprise data strategy.
- Influences strategic thinking across the team. Advocates for best practices, investigates new technologies and mentors other engineers.
Your Profile:
- Completed studies in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 4+ years experience in data engineering, including profound expertise in the Java programming language and a comprehensive understanding of the data sources, data formats, and data processing challenges at scale
- Professional knowledge with cloud-based data storage and processing platforms, such as Amazon S3 and Redshift, Kafka, Spark, S3, Hudi, Parquet
- Good experience with architectures for modern data infrastructure including data lakes, data warehouses, ETL pipelines, physical and logical data formats, data processing systems, data reliability, security, and performance.
- Extended knowledge of various database technologies including database and storage services in open source and those provided by public cloud vendors such as AWS (preferred) or GCP.
- Analytical, proactive, structural personality combined with a solution- and goal-oriented hands-on personality, who is comfortable working across stacks in an organization without silos and taking ownership of end-to-end problem-solving.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly articulate your work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
