Sr. Director, People
Location: New York City (On-site 4 days a week Monday-Thursday; work from anywhere Fridays)

About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, dynamic, and hands-on Sr. Director, People to lead our People function as we continue to grow. This executive role will oversee Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and Office Services & Facilities globally, ensuring our organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent while fostering an exceptional employee experience. The Head of People will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team and play a key role in driving company culture, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, aligning people strategy with business goals.
- Champion a strong, inclusive, performance-driven culture that reflects company values.
- Lead the People team and own the strategy and execution of all core People functions including talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards, learning & development, HR operations, HR compliance, and office services/facilities.
- Develop and lead initiatives that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, retention, and culture, especially during periods of change and transformation.
- Own and evolve the PeopleTech roadmap, integrating AI and automation across systems and processes to enhance scale, efficiency, and insight-driven decision-making.
- Build and maintain scalable performance management and talent review frameworks that support continuous feedback, growth, and accountability.
- Design and execute competitive, equitable, and compliant compensation and benefits programs in alignment with company values and fiscal responsibility.
- Partner with Finance and leadership on annual planning cycles, merit reviews, and promotion calibrations to ensure transparency and fairness.
- Lead talent acquisition strategy and ensure a consistent pipeline of high-quality, diverse talent.
- Utilize people data and analytics to inform decisions, develop KPIs, and measure HR effectiveness across engagement, performance, and retention.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices across all operating regions, partnering with legal as needed on investigations and audits.
- Oversee office services, facilities management, and workplace compliance to ensure a safe and engaging environment.
- Manage vendor relationships (e.g., benefits brokers, 401K, insurance providers), and lead negotiations and evaluations of program effectiveness.
- Develop and manage the HR budget, ensuring programs and initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.
Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive HR/People leadership experience, including at least 3 years leading functional leaders within HR in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (tech or SaaS preferred).
- Expertise in core HR functions: talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, performance management, learning & development, compliance, HR/People operations and Office Services/Facilities.
- Strong business acumen with a proven ability to align HR strategies to business objectives.
- Tech-forward mindset with a strong understanding of AI and HR systems (experience with Culture Amp, Rippling, Pave, Linkedin Recruiter etc. preferred. Demonstrated experience implementing and utilizing AI to optimize HR processes.
- Experience with U.S. and European employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated success in leading through change, scaling teams, and building high-performance, inclusive cultures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities; ability to use data to drive strategy and improvement.
- High integrity, empathy, and sound judgment; capable of balancing business needs with employee experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience
- HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) a plus.
Compensation: Conductor maintains competitive, performance-based compensation programs.
The NYC base salary range for this role is currently $150,000 - 200,000 per year. Placement within that range will be dependent on experience. This position will also be bonus eligible.
