June 2025: The prominence of AI Overviews continue to rise

Over the past month, Google Search has remained volatile, driven by the integration of Gemini and the growing presence of AI Overviews. While no official algorithm updates were announced, several spikes in activity occurred in late May and early June. Many sites are stabilizing, but the "impressions up, clicks down" trend is accelerating as AI Overviews dominate search results. Google's new AI Mode, now a separate tab, is testing features that will migrate into main search over time.

Industry trends show mixed results. Crypto platforms like Coinbase and Kraken continue to gain visibility, while amusement parks are seeing flat or declining performance. Streaming brands such as Hulu and Peacock are showing steady growth. AI Overviews are expanding across all sectors, changing how visibility is gained.

SEO strategy is shifting from link building to entity-based authority, with schema markup becoming essential. Key schema types include organization, product, and article. With zero-click searches now at an estimated 60%, brands should focus on showing up in AI Overviews and targeting high-intent traffic. Visibility within AI is becoming the new SEO priority.

April 2026 Edition
The April 30|30 webinar highlights a period of stabilization as Google’s March Core Update concluded with "very little bite" compared to the "violent" December update. While the update was relatively "boring," it successfully penalized "AI slop," whereas high-authority sites in Apparel and Health Tech—such as Shein.com and Dexcom.com—saw Year-over-Year visibility gains of 24% and 23% respectively. Government sites remained largely unaffected, with Data.gov and SBA.gov reporting flat performance through the rollout.
