Conductor Takes Part in Volunteers of America’s “Operation Backpack”

Conductor’s dedication to charitable efforts continues to be a value that we hold universally and wholeheartedly.  For the past three consecutive years,  the month of July has been deemed Operation Backpack Month and we were presented with the challenge to fill 25 backpacks for NYC students aged kindergarten through 12th grade.  In true Conductor form, we didn’t disappoint or hesitate and I’m proud that we were able to meet this goal.

As a result of Conductor’s efforts, 25 kids will receive a backpack filled with back-to-school supplies that will prepare them for the next year of learning. This is no small feat! Including clothes and other items, school supplies cost families $600 annually. Backpack items alone can cost a family more than $100 per child. In preparing the youth of our community, we impact New York’s young minds – and future Conductors! Our charitable efforts contributed to a record-breaking year of 8,000 filled backpacks for Project Backpack. The backpacks have been distributed to over 100 homeless and domestic violence shelters throughout New York City.

We were lucky to have some Operation Backpack “Leaders Extraordinaire” – Conductors who were ferocious in leading the groups, clipping the coupons necessary to get the supplies and organizing trips to various supply venues.  At Conductor, every charitable activity is one of teamwork and selflessness and we are looking forward to making our goal even bigger in 2012. Thanks, everyone – job well done!
